Common Conditions

  • Back Pain

There are many factors that can cause or contribute to back pain including issues affecting the muscles, bones, joints or nerves. Back pain can be caused by any combination of factors including: strain on muscles and ligaments, arthritis, herniated discs, traumatic events, being overweight or even poor posture. This makes back pain a complex issue.

Since back pain is so complex it must be approached from many angles. We treat back pain in four main ways: spinal adjustments, therapeutic massage, custom exercise and stretching programs, and lifestyle guidance.

  • Migraines

Migraines are severe headaches often accompanied by nausea, visual disturbances (or auras), and extreme sensitivity to bright lights, loud sounds or odors. Often, migraine headache pain is exacerbated by issues involving the spine, including "pinched" nerves and related inflammation.

Spinal adjustments and therapeutic massage can help relieve nerve impingements and tissue inflammation while also promoting circulation to make it easier for damaged tissues to heal. In addition, deep-tissue massage techniques can break apart muscle knots or adhesions that restrict normal, healthy movement and contribute to stress, neck pain and headaches.

  • Sciatica

Sciatica refers to a condition that occurs when a nerve in the lower back - the sciatic nerve - becomes pinched or compressed where it exits the spine.

In most cases, sciatica can be relieved with spinal adjustments to realign the spine and enable “slipped” discs to resume their normal positions. Therapeutic massage and exercises can help reduce inflammation and speed healing while also strengthening the lower back to prevent uneven strain on the spine and avoid recurrence of symptoms.

  • Neck Pain

Neck pain can be caused by several factors, including traumatic events like slip-and-fall accidents and car accidents, herniated discs, arthritis and other spine-related diseases, and even lifestyle factors like sleeping on an unsupportive mattress or pillow or spending long hours hunched over a cell phone or laptop.

Like back pain, neck pain is a complex issue that needs to be approached from many angles. So it is treated with a combination of: spinal adjustments, therapeutic massage, gentle stretching, and lifestyle guidance.

  • Herniated Disc

Discs are spongy “cushions” located between each pair of spine bones (vertebrae). Their function is to protect the spine and the nerves that run through it from shocks and jolts while also helping the spine remain flexible. Sometimes, a disc can slip out of position, extending beyond the edges of the vertebrae and pressing against nerves as they exit the spine while also irritating and inflaming surrounding tissues. This is called a herniated disc.

We treat Herniated discs with a series of spinal adjustments aimed at coaxing the spine into its proper alignment so the disc can resume its normal position. Typically several adjustments are needed to move the disc slowly back into place.

The conditions above are only the most common we see in the office.

Some amazing patients we've had the pleasure to work with.

  • Wonderful experience! Dr. Eddy took his time to thoroughly explain chiropractic and how it could help me. He is the best gonstead chiropractor in the area and he would be the only chiropractor I would trust my family to. I have struggled with face pain and seizures until being under consistent chiropractic care with Dr. Jonathan Eddy. The specific chiropractic adjustments delivered allowed me to be pain and seizure free. I could not thank him enough. The care he provided was different than other chiropractors, and he is very skilled. Thank you again Dr. Jonathan Eddy!

  • I came to Dr. Eddy with pain and without the full use of my left arm and was less than a month from surgery. I am happy to say that I am now pain free and have use of my arm completely and did not have the surgery! I would recommend Eddy Family Chiropractic to anyone that wants a full and complete examination and care. They are absolutely the best!

  • I highly recommend Eddy Family Chiropractic for your chiropractic needs. I have been under Dr. Jonathan's care for a few months now for sleep deprivation caused by lower back and neck pain. Not only am I sleeping very well, but my pain is nearly gone. With each visit, Dr. Jonathan takes the time to check-in on my overall health and wellbeing and with each adjustment, he clearly explains everything he does and how it will help to alleviate my pain. Thank you, Jonathan, for your excellent care!
